Strapi Content Manager
The Content Manager menu is accessible by clicking Content Manager in the main navigation, which opens a sub navigation displaying 2 categories: Collection types and Single types. Each category contains the available collection and single content-types. From these two categories, users can create, manage, and publish content.
Collection types
The Collection types category of the Content Manager displays the list of available collection types which are accessible from the Content Manager sub navigation.
A Collection is a grouping of entries that allow only certain components and share common fields. For example a collection is Page which includes entries for the About page, Contact page, Education Toolkit page, ect. All of these entries share common fields, such as Title and Slug. A Single Type is a Collection that has only one entry. The list below refers to all Collections:
- Event Dates: Entries of the dates for collection, identification and results for a given CNC year (used for Live Banner and Countdown).
- Page: Entries for each page on the City Nature Challenge site. Each entry is assigned a path that is allows the page to be accessed using the following url:
citynaturechallenge.org/path
- Results: Entries of each year collective results. Used for primairly for the Collective Results page and the Results component.
Creating a new entry
On the top right side of the list view interface, an Create a new entry button is displayed. It allows you to create a new entry for your collection type (such as a new page in the Page collection type).
Clicking on the new entry button will redirect you tso the edit view, where you will be able to write the content of the new entry.
Publishing entries
If you have created a page, result entry, ect., but you do not see it on the live site, make sure it's published first!
In order for a page to display on the live site or for results to be brought into the past results page, an entry must be published after its creation. A collection entry can have one of two statuses: draft or published. You can see the current status indicated on the right of the interface, above the information box (see 1 below).
To publish/unpublish an entry, tap the Publish button (see 2 above)
Single types
Unlike collection types which have multiple entries, single types only have a single entry. For example, the homepage's content is added to the Home single type, since there is only ever going to be a single home page.
Clicking on a single type will directly redirect you to the edit view, where you will be able to write the content of your single type. The list below is of all single types available:
- Configuration: A collection of global settings, right now only for the Live Banner.
- Footer: Content for the site footer.
- Home: Content for the homepage — similar to the Page collection but with exclusive components for the home page.
- Navbar: Content for the site navigation bar.
