NHM

This page documents the specific details and configurations of NHM Events and associated PLU details. The Events are explored in granular configuration detail as well as how those configurations affect front and back office use. The events exampled below are outlined from the year 2022.

General Admission

GA is required for entrance to the museum and access to any additional add-on event purchases. For example, in order to purchase a Butterfly Pavilion ticket one must purchase a GA ticket.

Purchase Path:

As of 2022, GA is timed and released in 2 month sale periods. GA is available for purchase through 3 webstores: NHM Timed Tickets, Member Portal, and Fellows Portal.

General Public:

Online: Through the NHM Drupal site, guests can navigate to the top right "Buy Tickets" Page that allows guests to select GA and any other Add-Ons for purchase and are then navigated to the NHM Timed Tickets Webstore where they select either GA or Packages with GA and their date for purchase.

Onsite: Guests are able to purchase GA tickets onsite from a GR Associate at either the North or East Entrance.

Member Portal:

Online: Members navigate to the NHM Drupal site where they select "Member" and then "Member Login," this will redirect them to the Member Portal webstore where the member logs in using their Galaxy account. Once they are logged in, they can select "Tickets" and are directed to all the museum events and GA is at the top for purchase.

Onsite: Members are able to purchase GA tickets onsite from a GR Associate at either the North or East Entrance.

Fellows Portal:

Online: Fellows navigate to the NHM Drupal site where they select "Member" and then "Member Login," this will redirect them to the Member Portal webstore where the fellow then selects the link to redirect them to the Fellows Portal. The Fellow logs in using their Galaxy account. Once they are logged in, they can select "Tickets" and a directed to all the museum events and GA is at the top for purchase.

Onsite: Fellows are able to purchase GA tickets onsite from a GR Associate at either the North or East Entrance.

Parking

Parking purchases are required for entrance to the NHM Parking lot.

Purchase Path:

Guests can ony purchase parking onsite at NHM's car park or any of the PARs located at entrances. Often times guests will purchase parking when they are purchasing their tickets onsite or if they are leaving to the car park they will purchase their ticket at the North Entrance.

Bug Fair

There are four events associated with Bug Fair setup:

The first release of Bug Fair events is for Vendors, both for-profit and non-profit, to book their "tables" for Bug Fair through Galaxy and register their Company/Organization etc. with the museum via Drupal Webforms. The last release is for the general public to book their admission to the museum/ Bug Fair. It should be noted that the for-profit and non-profit vendor registration events share the same webstore, the general public webstore replaced General Admission PLUs for NHM on the current webstores, and the member event replaced General Admission PLUs on the Member Portal. To gain access to the vendor webstores a Drupal Webform was created, Bug Fair 2022, and upon submission it will link users to the webstore.

The Fellow logs in using their Galaxy account. Once they are logged in, they can select "Tickets" and are directed to all the museum events. They must select Bug Fair GA (even though it is free).

Onsite: Bug Fair GA tickets onsite from a GR Associate at either the North or East Entrance.

Vendor Registration:

Online: Vendors must navigate to the Drupal NHM site and search for Bug Fair Vendor Registration. Once selected they will fill the webform with their information and upon submission they will be redirected to the Bug Fair Vendor webstore where they will select their table for purchase. When checking out they will have had to fill out roster questions that then gets generated into a report for staff to view if the vendors qualify for participation.

First Fridays

There are 3 events associated with First Fridays setup:

First Fridays has separate created events for each month but they follow the same format. A member of the ticketing team will often work each First Fridays event due to the events often selling out quickly online and leaving little capacity for walk-up guests. To avoid turning walk-ups away the ticketing team member will check attandance and usage for member guests and around 7PM, Special Events and Guest Relations will decide if they want to release the unused member tickets by the ticketing team running a query to ensure there is enough walk-up capacity for the remainder of the event.

Schools

All School events are booked by using a Drupal Webform, NHM School Booking Form 2022. Upon submission the results of the guest's form is sent to the Call Center to then create their order and book their tickets. Their order is not actually issued until the day of the guest's field trip onsite to ensure totals are correct. All events related to school field trips are to be booked at least 1 week in advance.
